Currently on a 44 game takeaway streak, Stevenson’s defense led the MAC in red zone defense last season.

Defensive back Austin Tennessee became the programs first National Football League (NFL) player after signing a rookie free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017. In 2015, the Mustangs led Division III in turnover margin per game (1.91). Stevenson's defense also led the NCAA in takeaways (40) and interceptions (29). Individual honors included Austin Tennessee (All East Region Second Team, All ECAC South Region First Team).

In 2014, Stevenson led the conference in passing defense and pass defense efficiency, while ranking second in interceptions and rush defense. The Mustangs also ranked third in opponent third-down conversion. Cornerback Austin Tennessee was named to the All-MAC First Team with a total of seven defense players earning all-conference honors.

In 2013, the Mustangs led the Middle Atlantic Conference in passing defense while finishing fourth in interceptions. Billy Lewis also earned All-MAC Honorable Mention honors.

In 2012, Stevenson ranked fourth in the conference in passing defense, while Antonio Lyles set the school record with 19 tackles versus Delaware Valley.

A 2005 graduate of Salisbury with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Johnson spent five seasons on the Sea Gull coaching staff, three of which was at the defensive back position. He was implemented seven different lifting programs as the Sea Gulls' assistant strength and conditioning coach.

A four-year starter at quarterback, Johnson lost just five games and was voted to the All-Atlantic Central Football Conference Team three times. He was also named to the conference's All-Academic Team twice.

Despite a torn ACL that cost him the final six games of his senior season, Johnson still finished as the second-leading rusher in school history with 3,216 yards and the sixth-ranked passer with 2,204 yards. He was also 10th in school history with 174 total points.

As a freshman in 2002, he led the nation in rushing yards among quarterbacks with 1,204 and was selected as the ACFC's Rookie of the Year.

Johnson played three seasons in the Arena Football League as quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back for the Amarillo Dusters and Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings.

Prior to coaching at Salisbury, Johnson spent one season coaching the quarterbacks and defensive backs at Delmar High School in Delaware.
